Pentax IQ EZY-R

I’ve been looking for a point and shoot, more specifically the Contax t3. Until I have the funds to get my hands on one I decided to play around with what was on hand: an old Pentax IQ EZY-R. This little guy is tiny, like, fits in my hand tiny, and you can get one off of Amazon for about $8. The battery to operate cost more than the camera and film combined, go figure. It was pretty durable and very responsive – two things I need when it comes to using any camera.

Looks big here but it's actually only about 2"x4"

It has autofocus and easy settings for flash for night time, daytime, etc. I was able to load it pretty easily and quickly on the first try and the zoom lens satisfied my framing wants. All in all I think it was a pretty awesome camera to tote around for the time being and I plan on shooting more rolls with it as the week goes on. The results from this aren’t super sharp every single time, I’d say about 7/10, but instead give that plastic lens, dreamy type of feel to the photos. Think Tumblr-esque 35mm shots.

This is definitely a neat camera to have around, see if you guys can dig up something similar in your parents attics or boxes. This particular one belongs to Andrew’s family but I remember using my Nan’s 35mm Kodak at school dances in middle school. Funny how something so symbolic of my childhood is now being used as an art novelty. 🙂
